Then on to the 10 hour carve process on the CNC machine. The design and words are carved 3\/16 deep then painted (in most cases black). Once the paint is dry, the carving will be poured with food safe epoxy resin (ER). I use food safe ER because I make a lot of cutting boards with designs on them using the same process as above. After the ER dries normally about 24 hours I then resurface the plaque again using the CNC machine producing a clean smooth surface that is ready for sanding.
